The Southport Salvation Army had been searching for a new site to build a Community Church. After several false starts, land adjacent to their current site became available and this was ideally suited to their needs.

An Architectural competition was held on the clients brief and an exceptional design came forward. This was readily accepted by the local Corps. Although it came in over their initial budget, the Corps were happy to fund a small mortgage to obtain the full design package created by the Architects.

A site investigation revealed relatively poor ground which had to be improved by vibro compaction, after which a steel frame and various types of external walls were constructed.  This combined   together to produce a modern style and a very open and bright series of spaces, enabling multi   activities to take place within it

Well insulated and utilizing a number of green attributes, including a solar 12kw PV system which was installed upon the upper flat roof.  Thus providing over 75% of their daily service requirements and giving them a long term FIT tariff income which in turn is helping pay off their mortgage.

The building is well designed and constructed and enable this Army’s mission to be fulfilled in a truly magnificent building in the heart of Southport.
