Beswick CO-OP, Northern Moor – Phase 2

Project Overview

Completion of the 2nd phase of the iconic Beswick Co-op refurbishment now completes the external refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed building built in 1912 including refurbishment of the ground floor communal retail units for letting.

The work also included refurbishment of the ‘Northmoor Hub’ drop-in centre (from its previous use as a launderette) Residents will be able to get information and support on a range of issues including health and wellbeing, welfare and benefits advice, and employment and skills

Particular challenges of this scheme were the extremely restrictive planning conditions, but also the poor original state of the building. External works included replacement of heritage style sash windows for the 1st-floor flats, faience repairs, replacement asphalt re-roofing, and leadwork replacements.
