Case Studies – Refurbishments

Reconstruction of Stafford Salvation Army Hall

Project Overview

IGL were initially appointed by the Salvation Army to carry out a survey to establish the extent of the essential repair works that were required to the premises.

We were asked to prepare a schedule of works for the remedial/maintenance works and tender the work out to local contractors.

Whilst still in the tender process, we received news that the hall had been subject to an arson attack. The fire devastated the roof and everything inside.

The Salvation Army increased the scope of works following this turn of events.

Prior to any works starting, the site was secured with fencing to keep members of the public safe. The Local Authority Building Officer attended site together with a Loss Adjuster and IGL. Instructions were duly given to make the area and building safe and for debris to be removed internally and externally.

IGL again attended site and carried out further inspections to enable the tender documents to be accurately amended and resent out to the contractors.

IGL provided a full Design and Contract administration package with whilst working closely with the loss adjusters.

The new building was handed back to the Army in July 2015.
