About IGL Surveying

History:

Gothic Barn, Romiley

Robert, Brent and John have worked together in Manchester for over 20 years and in March 1992 they formed what was to become IGL Surveying Limited. Ian joined IGL in September 1996.

Originally located in Didsbury, IGL has always been well located for communication across the region, adjacent to the M60 corridor and also benefitting from the excellent rail communications in the present location in Stockport, where IGL have been since 1992.

IGL's ethos:

  • To enjoy the work and respect the work/life balance for staff.
  • To enjoy working with clients and them with IGL.
  • To have a desire to do things well.
  • To try to be straightforward, honest and have integrity in the way work is approached.
  • Belief that long term success only comes from setting and maintaining high standards of client service.
  • To have a social or community aspect to much of our work.
  • A preference to employ surveyors to provide surveying services rather than manage teams of staff.

This ethos has led IGL to focus on using directors and experienced professional surveyors to undertake the projects with clients. This way IGL have confidence in the quality of the personnel that are involved. Clients benefit directly from the experience and skills of the surveyors.

Involvement of junior members is monitored by a senior professional surveyor to ensure progressive development of their skills, whilst ensuring the senior surveyor retains overall responsibility until they are judged competent to work with a minimum of supervision.

This may involve a higher economic cost, but IGL find that clients appreciate the higher standards achieved and brings benefits in better organisation and problem solving.
